James Hazen Morse

James Hazen Morse was born at McHenry, IL. May 17, 1847. He was married June 14, 1875 in Springfield, IL. From this union six children were born, three girls and three boys. For a good many years he lived in and around Sangamon County, IL. Six years ago he came to Plano and built a small cottage home where he has lived alone most of the time. He has one sister here, Mrs. Charles Lester, who was with him when he passed away Sunday about 11:45 from heart failure.

Mr. Morse was a veteran of the Rebellion having served as a Private in Company A, 141st IL Vol. Infantry. He was an honored member of the R. B. Hays Grand Army of the Republic Post of Plano.

Funeral services were held today from the M. E. Church. Reverend H. E. Sweitzer officiating. The members of the R. B. Hays Post were in attendance to pay their respects to their departed comrade. His three sons, Edward, Loren and Lee from Loami, IL were here to attend the funeral. Internment took place in the Little Rock Township Cemetery.
