Shirley A. Hartman Sun 09 Nov 1997 Surname: ATKINS
My gr-gr-gr-grandfather, Reuben ATKINS was "ordained" as a deacon in the Sandwich branch of De Kalb
County. His residence on 18 July 1871 was given as Plano, Illinois . Reuben was born 20 Dec 1832, at Coventors, Warwickshire, England. He married Eliza BOLTON, born 25 March 1830, Coventry, Essex, England. Eliza died 17 Nov 1893, place of death unknown. The date of their marriage is unknown. Reuben and Eliza had three sons, Reuben Jr., Henry and my g-g-grandfather, Charles. From what little I have learned, the boys/sons were young when they arrived in Plano. I know Charles had a farm near Aurora, Illinois. It appears their registry in De Kalb was witnessed by David H. SMITH and Warren WALLING [Wallup?]. Since Eliza's date of death has surfaced but no location was given, I suspecting she died in Plano, Illinois. Perhaps Reuben died there as well. Any information would be appreciated. Shirley Hartman

Diana M. Austring Tue Oct 27, 1998 Surnames: CHRISTOPHERSON & CHRISTOFFERSON
Norwegian Immigrants to Lisbon, Kendall County, Illinois, 1847.
My gggrandfather, Nels Christopherson (born circa 1810; also spelled Christofferson) and his wife, Kari Ingebrightsdatter Fatland (born circa 1822), emigrated separately from Hordaland, Norway to Lisbon, Kendall Co, Illinois in 1847. Kari was married to Amund Amundsen and arrived with her husband and young daughter, as well as her brother, Ole Ingebrightsen Fatland and his family, and another sister, Guri.
I suspect that both Kari's husband and child died in the cholera epidemic of 1849, and that Kari remarried to Nels Christopherson either later that year or early 1850 (he was probably another of the immigrants she arrived with.) They then lived there for several years before traveling on to Palestine, Story Co, Iowa in
August and September 1855. They had two children while in Lisbon: John (b Sep 1850) and Emeline/Emelie (born 1854).
I need now to find out if Åmund Åmundsen and his daughter, Eli (age 1) did, indeed die in that epidemic, and if there is any church or civil record of a marriage between Kari Ingebrightsdatter Fatland and Nels Christopherson. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Diana Austring

Leila May Georg Sat Jun 29, 2002 Surname: REDFIELD
The 1859 Platt book of Kendall County, Illinois lists landowners, E. G. Redfield in Section 17, Lisbon Twp and N. Redfield in Section 18, Lisbon Twp.
When the 1860 U. S. Census was taken E.G. (Eli H.) Redfield had migrated to DuPage Co. Illinois, the Redfield, heads of family, living in Lisbon Twp., Kendall Co., were Charles, age 27, Eby, age 31, N., age 60 and Weber, age 25.
I find Eli Redfield, d., 4-2-1913 in Lisbon, Kendall Co., Il.
I know N. age 60, was Nathaniel Redfield 1800-1875, that he had been born in New York State, that his wife was Sallie Webster, and that Charles Redfield, age 27 was their son.
I think Eli, Eby and Weber must have been close relatives if not sons, their ages fit nicely into the age ranges of the five siblings I do know, but haven't found any dependable evidence one way or the other, can anyone help?
Eugene Redfield, 1857-1886, son of Charles Redfield and Sarah McCloud, seems to have died as a result of an accident or violence, can someone clarify that happening for me?
In addition I am convinced, albeit having no proof, that Nathaniel was somehow a part of the Connecticut Redfield family, but how. Does someone out there know who his parents were?
I have asked a number of questions, please do not feel that you need to answer them all. Anything you can add will be appreciated.
I live within a comfortable driving distance of Springfield, IL Libraries and will be happy to exchange data.
Thank you in advance. Leila Mae Georg

Margaret Melton Mon May 29, 2000 Surname: SCHUMANN or SHUMANN
I am searching for information on the family of Ludwig (Louis) and Henrietta Schumann. They arrived in Baltimore, Maryland, in May 1869 from Germany. Sometime between their arrival in Baltimore and May 1870 they moved to Oswego, Illinois, where they were enumerated in the 1870 Census. Four children were enumerated: Emma, born about 1858; Mary, born about 1861; Anna Louisa, born in 1864; and Otto, (Carl) born about 1868.
Emma married William H. Collman 27 Feb 1877 in Kendall County. Louis and Henriette Schumann were found in the 1880 Census without any children their household. The two older girls may have been married by then but I don't know where the two younger children were at. Otto (Carl) would have only been twelve years of age at the time. After 1880, I lost all track of the family until 1899 when Anna was married in Nebraska.
Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.
