This website was established in 1997 by county coordinator Elmer Dickson, under the title: The Kendall County, Illinois Home Page, Part Of The USGenWeb Project. The Kendall County, Illinois Home Page was first hosted at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilkendal/ and later at http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ilkendal/. The site was updated and moved to it's current home at http://kendallkin.org/ in September 2013.

Elmer Dickson was the sole county coordinator for Kendall County, Illinois since the ILGenWeb Project began in 1996 until his death in 2018. Elmer was born and raised in Kendall County, Illinois and was well versed in its history. He has written many genealogical documents and books, including The descendants of Andrew and Jannette Penman Harkness of Roxburghshire, Scotland (LC control no. 90081093).

With Elmer's passing in 2018, his personal knowledge and expertise passed with him. Therefore, this website has been frozen and no updates will be possible. Elmer's family retains his copyrights and will keep this website online as an archive of Elmer's many years of work on Kendall County history and genealogy.
