Dies at Little Rock Home
Mr. E. S. Ovitt, Resident of Little Rock for Many Years Passes Away

Kendall County News, April 5, 1916.

Eneas S. Ovitt, son of Squaires Addison and Emily C. Ovitt was born near Oswego, Illinois, December 20, 1842. At the age of seven years he came with his family to Little Rock Township, where he grew to manhood.

In the time of his country's need, he enlisted in Company K, 127th Illinois Infantry Volunteers. He was transferred to Company B, 55th Illinois Infantry, June 1, 1865. He remained in the service until the close of the war, receiving his discharge August 4, 1865. He was a member of Plano Post No. 120, G. A. R.

He was united in marriage with Florence A. Williams, October 8, 1869. This union remained unbroken until February 1, 1907 when the wife and mother preceded him in death. To them, three children were given, a son and two daughters, all of whom are living. The son, Burton S. Ovitt, is located on the old home farm just west of Little Rock. Mr. Ovitt has made his home with him for the past eight years. The daughters are: Ethel M. Best of Plano; and Mrs. Alice V. Swanson of Alberta Province, Canada. He also leaves three brothers and four sisters as well as many other relatives and friends to mourn his death.

Mr. Ovitt united with the M. E. Church of Little Rock, December 7, 1879 and remained to the last a faithful and consistent member.

After an illness of less than two weeks, he peacefully departed this life March 29, 1916 aged seventy-three years, three months, and nine days, having passed his entire life in Kendall County.
