Sixty-three descendants of Ole and Malinda Anderson met at the home of Mrs. Fay Anderson in Yorkville on Sunday for their annual picnic. Ole Anderson was born in Norway in 1836, came to Kendall County at the age of 19 years. When he arrived in the county he was penniless and walked from Bristol Station to Helmar, but he immediately secured work and through his thrift was eventually able to buy 80 acres in Fox township. Later he bought 92 acres in Kendall township and still later he bought 296 acres in Big Grove Township where he made his home for many years. A son, A. O. Anderson, later occupied the farm for several years and a grandson, Vernie Anderson, now owns it. Eight children were born to the couple, all of whom are now deceased. A picnic dinner was served at noon and the remainder of the day was spent socially. Harold Anderson of Newark was elected president; L. N. Johnson of Newark, vice president; Miss Nancy Anderson of Newark, secretary; Everett Anderson of Helmar, treasurer, and Dean Weeks of Aurora, Historian. Mrs. A. O. Anderson of Newark was the oldest person present; Pamela Kay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hughes of Yorkville, the youngest, and Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Johnson and family of Danville came the longest distance.
